Yo yo yo....It's PiYo!!!

So there is a big buzz in Beachbody Land about a brand new program called PiYo. This is a new program from Chalene Johnson, creator of Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire. Chalene says she wishes she had not named it PiYo because she didn't want people to think it was JUST Pilates and Yoga, it is a much faster paced fusion of Pilates and yoga moves, but incorporates full body strength training using just your body weight. I have three friends (who are also coaches) who are now certified as teachers in PiYo so I was very anxious to try it out.

PiYo was released on June 19th and I happened to be in a church celebration for my daughters' Vacation Bible School program when it was released. There was word earlier in the day that it may be released at noon, but was that noon Eastern, Central, Pacific time zone who knew...so I stalked the Beachbody page and low and behold, it released while I was in church. Of course. My phone was BLOWING up so I rushed my kids to leave (yep, mom of the year) and got them strapped in the car and ordered mine right there in the parking lot. I am either going to hell or have a special yoga mat in heaven for that one. ;)

I was super psyched when it came in the mail and was busted it open to see what was inside.

A'int it pretty??  Love the colors and packaging.

So what is inside?:

The program comes full of good info and being the total dork I am, my favorite thing was the tape measure. :) Nerd alert. I was just so excited that they included one so that you have NO excuse to not do them. When I first started the 21 Day Fix in February, the last thing I wanted to do was measure myself. It was humiliating. I hated every single moment. And pictures. Ugh, seriously? But I did them and I am SO glad I did. This will not be last time you will hear me say this so get ready: DO YOUR MEASUREMENTS.  I think we are so used to relying on the scale only and we don't remember how crazy those things are sometimes. If you have ever gotten on a scale three times in a row, I bet you will get at least two different numbers. Rely on more than one thing to let you know you have made progress. Scale, measurement, pictures, how you fit in your clothes, and most importantly, how you feel! Now, go take those measurements.

Back to the program. Three DVDs come in the package that include 9 workouts plus an Alignment video that shows you proper technique.

Also included is the calendar, Quick Start Guide, the Eating Plan and a bonus video called Hard Core on the Floor.

The Alignment video is very important to watch to get a clear understanding of how you should be positioning yourself and how to modify. A lot of these moves will progress throughout the video series so it is important to get it right from the beginning.

I'm ready to get started with PiYo! My next post will be from Day One: Alignment.

Thanks for checking in!
